Retired Katy ISD teacher, Karen Thornton, laced up her running shoes and did the Bayou City Half Marathon Series Katy 5K on 2/2/2019.  She along with over 200 of her fellow teammates representing 44 schools were an inspiration to all as they got fit and gave back to a wonderful cause close to their hearts.

Karen chose the Katy ISD Education Foundation as her Reason2Race and was the 4th place highest fundraiser. The Run Houston! For a Cause program awarded her cause an extra $200 donation!  In total Karen raised over $1,500 and her team raised over $40,000 to provide resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and enhance opportunities for students enrolled in Katy ISD.
